Before the fall of the old gods, the city had another name. That has been lost to us, as is so often the case. What is known, is that this academy - though predating our liberation - was foundational in our future. From here a new generation of Mantic users is trained.
From all over the Imperium and beyond, young men and women come to this city, this tower, to hone their skills. Some for selfish reasons, glory, fortune, others for the nobility of service. Though rare, Mantic ability is relied upon by the nation and its people and all young Mancers must learn utility and service before ambition.
Schwarzwald Academy is divided in to four Houses. Dragon, Bear, Wolf & Boar. All with old glories and future hopes. Below will be detailed each House's general vibe along with the young students participating in this year's interhouse Tournament.
Founded by the Book of the twelve, Dracomyre deDannan, Dragon House is known for two things; Money and success. They hold the record for most Academy valedictorians and their graduates become renowned intellectuals. If not kings themselves, key advisors in economics and logistics. Mantic ability is well regarded, but individual strength matters not against the weight of an institution. Many Lords try to bribe their way in, but Dragon House only accepts the smartest.
Founded by the Shield of the Twelve, Aparolo Krynn, Bear House is the largest of the four. Their long history of charity has led to an influx of scholarship students. Other houses mock this as a show of low standards and affirmative action, but they wear it at as a badge of pride. No Nobility currently call it home, but it is kept afloat by donations from their many and grateful graduates. They produce a large number of utilitarian Mancers and the Imperium's public services sector trace their roots here. Vital, if deeply inglorious work. As its founder is remembered.
Founded by the Hammer of the Twelve, Erasmus Fasti, Boar House has many accomplishments. However, all of that is overshadowed by their legendary parties. They have caused so much damage to the city that extra enforcers are called in to deal with them. Even if the students fix the destruction themselves. While few graduates go on to become fairytale heroes of renown, they all gain life long friendships, crazy stories and are pretty great hangs.
Founded by the Spear of the Twelve, Saoirse Von Doom, Wolf House focuses on Mastering the physical self. Breaking your limits is the goal of all combat Mancers, but Wolf House has taken it to the extreme. They hold the record for most Inter-House Tournament belts and their graduates go off to become Imperial Dragoons or champions on the fighting circuit. Motivated, driven and singular in their goals, Wolf House members rarely make friends or build nations, but they do win.
